Huffington Post: Opinion-Jeffrey Sachs- “Libertarian Illusions”: What Progressives Don’t Like About Libertarianism

I’m a Liberal Democrat who’s Political Hero is Jack Kennedy. And one reason why JFK is a Political Hero of mine. Is because he best defended what Liberalism is and I’m not talking about Libertarianism or what’s called Progressivism. Liberalism, Liberals who are people who believe in Liberty and Individualism, Limited Government not Big Government. And Quality of Opportunity not Quality of Result, which are two different things. Thats Free Adults should be able to live their own lives. As long as they are not hurting anyone else with what they are doing. Jack Kennedy was very skeptical of Big Government and wouldn’t be describe as a Progressive Democrat today. But would make a great Liberal Democrat. And you may say this sounds like Libertarianism but its not. Because Libertarians believe in Small Government and are even Anti Government. Basically just one step away from being an Anarchist.

Progressives don’t like Ron Paul mainly for his Economic Policy’s. Because again he believes in Individual Liberty, not Collectivism. That people should have the Liberty to make as good of a life, as what they put into it. And he wants to Decentralize the Federal Government and give more power back to the States and Individuals. Instead of making the Federal Government more Centralize and even bigger then it is. That we are all in it together, that there shouldn’t be any High, Middle or Low Earners in America. That the Federal Government should collect a lot of the resources. In society to prevent people from being rich, middle or poor. And with those resources, provide a lot of Public Services. That they don’t trust the Private Sector and Individuals to provide for themselves.

I’m a Liberal Democrat because I believe in Liberal Democracy. The Liberty for Free Adults to live their lives as they see fit. As long as they are not hurting anyone else with what they are doing. Jack Kennedy wouldn’t be a Progressive Democrat today. Because he was skeptical of Big Government. And believed in Individual Liberty which goes against Progressivism. Because Progressives believe that Government should have a lot of power. To provide Public Services for the people. Services that Individuals could provide for themselves. If just given the Individual Liberty to do so.
